Andhra Pradesh Government in partnership with Quest Alliance, Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA AP) and Leadership for Equity (LFE), non-profit organisations has achieved a milestone towards creating of future-ready learning with the successful completion of one year of piloting an Artificial Intelligence (AI) curriculum for Class 7, 8 and 9 across 100 government secondary schools. To mark the accomplishment, a four-day 'Hack to the Future Andhra 2025' event was held from June 14 to 17 June at GITAM, deemed to be a university here. The event brought together students, teachers, and education leaders to celebrate future-ready learning.

The event featured a hackathon bootcamp, a prototype showcase, and a teacher recognition ceremony. Thirty-nine students, working in teams of three, developed AI-powered prototypes to solve local problems, with guidance from 13 trained teachers. These projects addressed issues ranging from waste management to access to public services, and were presented to an expert panel comprising professors, funders, educationists, and state officials.

The pilot program, implemented across Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas (KGBVs), AP Model Schools (APMS), Government High Schools (GHS) in the districts of Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, and Visakhapatnam, introduced learners to foundational AI concepts, future skills, and career education. It also equipped teachers with tools and training to facilitate technology-integrated learning.

G Sridevi, a Telugu educator teaching in KGBV Saravakota, said, “ss a Telugu teacher with little technology knowledge, I relied on poems and stories to teach. Gradually, I began using small apps and IFP panels to engage my students. When asked to teach Artificial Intelligence through the Amazon Future Engineer project, I doubted myself. But after training, seeing my students’ enthusiasm inspired me to learn more. Teaching AI has shown me the importance of guiding students to use technology wisely in today’s world.”

State Program Director, Samagra Shiksha, B. Srinivasa Rao, who felicitated the participants of the event, said, “this initiative is not just about introducing students to AI it is about bringing alive the State’s grand vision of Swarna Andhra 2047 where Andhra emerges as an AI hub for the country.

"By integrating AI and career education into the curriculum, we are helping young learners explore real-world problems, understand emerging careers, and become future-ready. It empowers them to become creators of change. This is the kind of transformation we aim to institutionalize across the public education system in Andhra Pradesh in the coming years,” he stated.
